"Coordinated by the Australian Food Sovereignty Alliance (AFSA), Australia’s Fair Food Week shines a light on our new story of food.

This year’s events will be about celebrating the accomplishments of Australian projects that support fair food, educating ourselves about innovative policy strategies that can support fair food, and creating new experiences for people with fair food.

Let’s put food sovereignty on the Australian table so farmers can keep farming… so that young people will feel encouraged to go into farming… and so that family farmers around the world know that we are acting for their sovereignty."

Opportunities:
"It’s your chance to do what it is that you do best when it comes to food wherever you sit in the paddock-to-plate-and-back-again journey. You’ll have our support to grab attention via print and social media, word of mouth advertising, promotion at markets, restaurants, cafes, and libraries.

All over the country during the Fair Food Week people will create and participate in story-telling, workshops and other events the possibilities of which are limited only by your imagination."

This looks like a great initiative … is this more for established social enterprise groups to put something on or open to anyone who has a food story. Regards Russell

Hi @Russell ! It is generally open to anyone who wants to host a fair food event, but I think it might be too late to register now, as the event officially starts in 3 days.

Here are Fair Food Week’s instructions though, as posted on their facebook page.

Step 1:
Decide on your event
Does it have a time and a place? Will people need to bring anything? How are you going to let people know about it? Will you need some helpers to get this event up and running? Can you team up with an existing fair food thing that happens locally?

Step 2:
Let people know about it
Register your event on the AFSA website and connect with us on Facebook Twitter and Instagram.
How are you going to let people know about the event?

Step 3:
Enjoy yourselves and get those juicy conversations going!
Because it’s not about the planning it’s about the coming together of people who are passionate and curious about finding a better fairer way of producing and sharing food that brings us closer to each other as a community as well as being kind to the environment that sustains us.
So be bold and talk to people at this wonderful event you’ve organised. You don’t have to have the answers….that’s kinda why we are doing this, so we can find a better way, together
