The FAO has created a database of laws and policies that relate to family farming. For Australia, this resource includes relevant land Acts, Co-operative laws, Fisheries Acts, and much more. Check it out: http://www.fao.org/family-farming/laws-public-policies/en/
I’ve been working on project for farming groups wanting to establish a co-operative. It’ll be launched in June, so watch this space and I’ll send the info through The focus of the tool is an easy to build, tailored set of rules & disclosure statement so co-ops can register easily.
Also helpful is the Business Council of Co-ops & Mutuals “Get Mutual” site for groups wanting to set up a co-op - it provides more general info about what to think about before you develop rule & business planning. http://www.getmutual.coop/
Hope this isn’t too much spruiking - they’re definitely useful resources to have up your sleeve
Sounds like a great project, would definitely like to hear more about it! You might also find some useful resources over on the OFN Learn site: https://openfoodnetwork.org/au/learn/
You can filter by tag and just see the stories, resources, etc that are about cooperatives.
Awesome - thanks Jen, I’ll let you know more when it’s up and running
