First Nations Arts Festival food event in Melbourne in May

The event described below - SHORE in NARRM: Feast - is part of Yirramboi, the First Nations Arts Festival happening in Melbourne in May. It’s free, but bookings required.

Thanks for sharing Jen! I am collaborating (Fair Share Fare) with Emily Johnson (Yup’ik artist from Alaska) on ‘Feast’ which is a part of her larger project Shore for the Yirramboi First Nations Festival. Feast is a celebration of indigenous food and knowledge, but also includes a potluck element which invites people to bring dishes of personal or cultural relevance to them. More details are coming from the media folks at Arts House and I’ll share when available.

At the moment, we are collecting community and back yard harvest items to contribute to some of the dishes. For instance, we just collected boxes of figs that we are turning into the Canadian First Nations dish called pemmican. If anyone has any surplus fruits or vegetables they would like to contribute to Feast, we will acknowledge and share the offerings made from your contribution. Hope you can come. JR
