Free To Feed is a Thornbury-based social enterprise enabling conversation, learning and exchange of food cultures over the common ground that is a feasting table. Through their mobile cooking classes, Free To Feed provides refugees with mentoring and training, a wage, transitions to other meaningful employment, and, crucially, the opportunity to form genuine connections with new communities.
In 2018, Free To Feed will be growing its Melbourne team, scaling its operations, launching in Sydney and kicking off some new and exciting food enterprises.
We’re looking for someone very special to join our team, a little bit of an all-rounder who’s going to share the workload of this growing social enterprise.

This is a part-time role offering 20 hours per week. We are looking for the successful applicant to ideally spread these hours across 4 days. The right person will be flexible with work hours to accommodate Free To Feed event schedules.

Role Responsibilities:
Customer communication, experience and sales:
Interface with customers via email and phone with the objective of finalizing sales and ensuring an excellent customer experience with Free To Feed
Be the first point of contact for all organizational enquiries and manage/update the online booking system.
Answer customer requests and questions and collect and synthesize customer feedback.
Anticipate the needs of customers/event patrons so that their Free To Feed experience exceeds expectations.
Work alongside the Creative Director and Projects Lead to facilitate and execute new event ideas.
Event Operations & Coordination:
Constantly evaluate workflows and find ways for processes to be more efficient, and information more relevant and valuable, both internally and externally
Review and streamline day-to-day operations with long-term sustainability and scalability in mind.
Work in a strategic and efficient manner, continually optimizing operations around events, production and classes.
Assist Founders, where required, in operational tasks relating to the expansion to Sydney.
Liaise with guests, hosts and staff around Free To Feed events and classes.
Coordinate staff and volunteer shifts around Free To Feed events and classes.
Ensure accurate and timely scheduling and dispatching of preparatory tasks in the lead up to events to ensure that they are seamless and well-executed
Engage interns and volunteers in order to ensure staffing requirements are met.
Liaise with Intern Australia and Universities for recruitment of Interns & student placement to support Free To Feed’s work.
Kitchen and Space Oversight:
Manage orders, equipment, suppliers and pantry stock.
Manage the kitchen space and event space set-up, with attention to detail.
Ensure the timely scheduling of cleaners, florists etc.
Ensure upkeep of food, health and safety standards and regulations in kitchen and across events.
Administration / Financial Administration:
Assist with financial administration such as payroll of staff and XERO reconciliation when necessary.
Ensure the audit trail/book keeping is maintained.
Assist founders in administrational tasks relating to the expansion to Sydney
Volunteering:
Be ready to be a back-up event host, on average one time per week, on a voluntary basis (volunteerism is integral to Free To Feed; everyone in the team takes it turns to host classes/events outside of work hours)
Requirements:
Proven organizational skills which are reflected in effective prioritizing, multitasking, follow-up and ultimate delivery on commitments;
Excellent interpersonal skills and pleasant, positive demeanor;
Ability to communicate with diverse, multi-ethnic team members, volunteers corporates, volunteers, customers etc
Highly organised and systems-oriented, with a keen eye for detail. You will be creating systems to free Free To Feed from cumbersome processes so it can scale efficiently.
Ability to be very time-efficient and get shit down in a high-energy and fast-paced environment where time is a scarce and precious resource.
A proactive attitude and the capacity to act quickly and decisively;
Advanced computer skills, familiarity with common software i.e Word, Excel. (experience with Xero and In-design is a bonus);
Work well with ambiguity and embrace the adventure of Free To Feed;
Be a proponent of Free To Feed’s test and learn culture by enabling and supporting experimentation;
Be a confident problem-solver, creating a solutions-orientated environment;
Have a high attention to detail and ability to create structure and calm within changing environments;
Have a commitment to growing within the organization.
